Amit Joshi

Portfolio Manager CAIA, CIM

Biography

Amit Joshi is a Portfolio Manager at Barometer Capital Management. He manages the firm’s pooled North American Balanced Fund and leads the Tactical Asset Allocation mandate for separately managed high-net-worth clients. He is registered with the Ontario Securities Commission as an Advising Representative.

Amit has nearly 20 years of capital markets experience, including 15 years on the buy side. His experience spans long-only, long/short equity, balanced, income and covered call mandates, in North American equities and fixed income across all sectors and market capitalizations. His process combines fundamental and technical analysis with a continuous read on market breadth and macro conditions. Capital is allocated towards areas of strength within the market, while mitigating exposure towards weakening market constituents. Risk management is a priority. Every position carries a defined re-assessment level, and downside protection drives allocation decisions.

Amit presents regularly on the firm’s weekly webcast and appears as a recurring guest on BNN Bloomberg. He joined Barometer in 2020 through the firm’s acquisition of Roundtable Capital Partners, where he began his buy-side career in 2011.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Waterloo and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designations. Beyond his professional work, Amit serves as Treasurer and Board Director of the York Region Centre for Community Safety, providing guidance to the organization on financial matters including accounting, audit, cash management, fundraising, and strategic growth.
